The team of Graz University of Technology (TUG) has given a short presentation on ROLE to invited guests on March 9 and 12, 2009. An overview, the project objectives, and the planned contribution of TUG were presented. The presentation was followed by an interesting discussion on the challenges of ROLE, especially if and how ontologies can be built in order to serve as basis for recommendations of learning tools and content resources. Peter Dolog pointed out that there are similarities to the idSpace research project.

The Organizing Committee of WWW2009 cordially invites you to participate in the 18th International World Wide Web Conference to be held in Madrid, the charming and cosmopolitan Spain’s capital. The World Wide Web Conference is the global event that brings together key researchers, innovators, decision-makers, technologists, businesses, and standards bodies working to shape the Web.
A complete program outlines all the current and future aspects of the web from April 20th. After a strict process of review a 105 papers have been selected (among the 888 submitted) that will be organized in 13 different tracks, ranging from sophisticated algorithms of Data mining up to the most popular aspects of Social Networks and Web 2.0. Refereed paper sessions, developer’s track and panels will develop on April, 22-24. On April, 20-21, a complete program of specializing workshops and innovators tutorials will be developed. Among other aspects the 11 workshops will approach topics of credibility of the information in the web; motivation and incentives in the web; mobile widgets, etc. The 14 tutorials will introduce new aspects in top fields such as interactive television, web communities or reputation and confidence systems.
As WWW2009 coincides with the 20th Anniversary of the Web, conference organisers have included this panel to commemorate it, in order to provide a rich overview of the past 20
years as well as a forecast into the future. Professor Wendy Hall will act as chair of the panel. Tim Berners-Lee, Robet Cailliau and Vinton Cerf have already confirmed their participation.

From the 2 - 3 March 2009, ROLE successfully held its kick-off meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, kindly hosted by EPFL. In addition to the general overview which outlined the connection between the workpackages and the management issues, various work package meetings took place, enabling the envolved partners to clearly define their roles and first actions for each task.
