Role stand at e-learning 2009, Berlin

The presentation

ROLE was presented by Ralf Klamma at E-Learning 2009 Conference, Berlin in a 30 minutes presentation with about 40 participants (slides at Ralf’s blog). He explained the general goals and approach of the project, to create the basis for open responsive learning environments. Reaction from the audience was quite positive. One question was what is unique in the ROLE approach compared to existing E-Learning approaches. Ralf stated that the ability of the learner to assemble an own learning environment from small tools (like widgets) and content elements and social contacts (to co-learners/ tutors) is the main differentiator compared to classical learning environments and educational offerings.

The booth

ROLE is represented by Nils Faltin at the IMC booth together with projects PROLIX, GRAPPLE (see picture). Several of the presentation audience approached the booth to learn more about the project.

The conference

E-Learning 2009 is one of the major events of the german speaking e-learning research community, combining the yearly meetings of the society for media in science (Gesellschaft für Medien in der Wissenschaft) and German Computer Society E-Learning chapter (GI Fachgruppe E-Learning). This year it has roughly 400 attendees.
